![]() ![]() Pymel: fantastic version of maya python scripting. Most widely used in production and in my opinion the easiest to use.Print '%s is a valid file, remapping texture path!' % new_pathįor anyone new to python scripting in Maya here's a breakdown of the concepts covered in this script complete with links to more complete documentation: New_path = os.path.join(z_path, 'cartoon_room', second) So i sat down and showed them how to write a script that would allow them to select textures in the hypershade, and execute the script in order to switch out the paths to a network location. We talked about how they could just spend the next hour fixing texture paths, but figured it was a good time to show them some basic python scripting for Maya. It reminded me how powerful a few commands can be. An hour can turn into seconds fairly quickly with the right script. So when we moved them to the farm all the paths were broken. Students in my lighting class needed to prepare their scenes for rendering on the render farm. Their scenes were prepared at the beginning of the semester on their local hard drives though. I encountered it today in a class I was teaching. Something I've encountered a lot as a supervisor and as a professor is broken texture paths within Maya. ![]()
